The Ottawa Boys Choir was established in June 2024.

A small but tight-knit group of boys sang under Kurt Ala-Kantti with the Ottawa Children's Choir Boys Choir in 2022 and 2023 as a SATB choir. The boys loved to sing and play together and the parents were thrilled by the welcoming environment established by Mr. Ala-Kantti as well as the musical progress made by the boys.

The parents decided to form a new boys choir to offer a non-auditioned, inclusive place for boys to learn to sing before, during and after their voices change. We offered Mr. Ala-Kantti the position as conductor, and he has accepted.

In forming the Ottawa Boys Choir, our aim is to complement the existing work that organizations like the Ottawa Children's Choir and the Ottawa Regional Youth Choirs are already doing in children and youth choral education. We aim not to compete, but to fill what we feel is a gap in options for boys wanting to sing in the National Capital Region.

We are incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, and are in the process of seeking charitable status with CRA.
